The parish council consists of a total of eleven councillors who are elected every four years.
It meets on the third Monday of the month at 6.15pm in the St Barnabas church hall. We do not meet during August unless there is an exceptional or urgent item.
The public are welcome and encouraged to attend all meetings and are allowed to speak to the council for twenty minutes at the start of the meeting.
Agendas are posted on this website and on the parish notice board located on St Mary’s Avenue at least 3 working days prior to the meeting. Minutes are posted on this website once they have been agreed as a true record and signed by the chairman at the following meeting.

What does the parish council do?
The parish council works towards improving community well-being and providing better services for the village. They are the tier of local government below the level of North Lincolnshire council and are the tier of local government closest to residents.
The parish council manages the village’s burial ground adjacent to the redundant ancient church of St.Mary. For more details about the cemetery, including burial fees, contact the cemetery registrar.
The parish council as a sole trustee also conducts the business of The Barnetby Recreational Field Trustee Registered Charity No 521892 which covers the land at the recreation ground located in Silver Street.

How is the parish council funded?
The council, like all parish councils, is funded by the parish precept. This is an amount of money that is paid as a proportion of the council tax, collected by North Lincolnshire Council. It is paid by all eligible households in Barnetby. In 2013/14 this is £43.65 for a band D property.
