Job title: Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer

Organisation: Barnetby le Wold Parish Council, North Lincolnshire

Salary: NALC scale 17-21. (£28,770 – £30,825 pro-rata)

Hours: Part-time 28 hours per month (flexible) to include a minimum of 11 Monday evening meetings in person per year.

SUMMARY

Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of North Lincolnshire, Barnetby le Wold is a charming village with a rich history and a close-knit community spirit.

On the 2023 Register of Electors there were 1428 residents in Barnetby le Wold registered and eligible to vote.

The Parish Council plays a pivotal role in serving the needs of our community. Committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents, our council seeks to address local issues, implement positive changes, and organise community events. With a focus on transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, the parish council ensure that the voices of our residents are heard and their concerns are addressed effectively.

As the Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer, your are responsible for council operations, providing essential administrative support and financial management expertise.

Responsibilities will include:

Managing day-to-day administrative tasks, including correspondence, meeting arrangements, and maintaining records.

Acting as the principal advisor to the Council, ensuring legal and procedural compliance.

Overseeing the financial affairs of the Council, including budget preparation, accounting, financial reporting and annual audit.

Liaising with external agencies, stakeholders, and the local community to represent the interests of the Council effectively.

Supporting the Council in the implementation of projects, initiatives, funding and policies to benefit the community.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar administrative or financial role, preferably within a local council setting. CILCA Qualified is desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in financial management and budgetary control.
  • Knowledge of local government procedures and regulations would be advantageous.
  • A commitment to serving the community and promoting its best interests.
